
Alabama came into national importance when the program was made by head coach Wade Wallace. Wade was Brown alum who took over a program that had struggled in recent years. But with Wade's coaching skills and the help of his manager, the school was providing athletes from across the country and not just in Alabama. This is a trend that was very popular with schools across the country, a trend that continues today. Wade led the school to two national championships during his eight years as head coach at Alabama, but it was the first championship in 1926 that the team put on the map and they have remained since.
