The population was 690,252 as of 2006, with a population of over 1.5 million in the metropolitan area. The city is located along the Colorado River and Balcones Fault. Austin is known for its unique blend of culture, entertainment, large corporations and local businesses known. The official slogan of the city, "The Live Music Capital of the World", however many Austinites live locally adopted under the slogan "Keep Austin Weird.".
